Anyway... You can buy a "no more puddles" spray for dogs... (No more puddles is the brand!) There are probably other brands too... Designed to leave a sour taste on objects that you don't want your dogs to chew on and leave teeth marks...
If you really want to avoid them chewing it, maybe try this? Just check out first that it doesn't have anything in it that is bad for rats... But it should be ok if they make it for dogs...
Anyway, good luck with it!
my rats did the same thing. but i culdnt figure out why, but now thta i think about it, i believe they were trying to make bedding...so give them a big was of toilet paper, some cotten balls or an old teeshirt and see if it helps. you can even buy some bedding at the petstore in the small animal department.
Rats need to chew to keep their teeth down try getting some fruit wood blocks from a pet shop.
Unfortunately, rats chew. I (currently) am getting off very lightly with that.. My rat always has a carboard box in, which he can sleep in, under, on and chew up. And he does all 3.
Other than that.. I've started giving my rat rawhide dog chews, which has stopped him chewing other things as badly. A small bone (4") is usually around 50p.. it helps keep his teeth down too.
Hope this helps.
