Rat Prombelm help please
Well awhile back I had bought a female rat from petsmart and shes living in a farly large tank.. Well a couple weeks ago I dicided to get her a friend bc she looked lonely and I heard female rats would get along great in groups. So I bought this adorable little hairless rat about half her size. She seemed to be find with her friend until about a week after i got her. The new rat would get up on the house and my older rat would bit her and oull her down off the house with her teeth. Atfirst I thought they were playing or my older rat was momming the younger one b/c she licks my younger one n such but now that its happening all the time im not so sure anymore. Shes getting little scratcheds and tiny scabes on her back bc of it.. Whats the problem??
Answers:Did you do a quarantine period before introducing the young girl to the older girl? The 3 week quarantine period is to allow time for the new rat to settle into your home without the stress of immediately having to adjust to a cage partner. The quarantine also allows you the time that you need to assess the health of the new rat. You would be looking for Myco, or mites, or worse, SDA and Sendai.

Did you do the introduction method or did you just put the young girl into the cage of the older rat? Proper intros will bond them for life.
