i have had the same problem with my girls, and i use baby nail clippers to clip their nails. i try to do it in the morning when their sleepy and want to be held for cuddles and not for play. you just have to be in good light so that you don't accidentally cut one of their little fingers.
if you don't feel comfy doing that, take them to your vet and have him/her show you how to do it.
Get to the vet and get his nails clipped! Simple!
like everyone else said DON'T DO IT YOURSELF take her to a vet my rat had long nails too and she always had huge scratches from itching herself
clip the rats nails if you can
be very careful not to cut them too short
the back ones only are the ones you clip
this will help a lot
use fingernail clippers - or if he will let you you can file them down instead
Clip them yourself, just don't clip into the pink park of the nail as it will bleed and hurt the rat! Or your vet could do it but it'll cost more than if you do it yourself. Unless you cut it's toes off then it'll cost even more to have the vet patch up the rat.

Sounds like your rat needs a vet trip hehe.Take him down for a clipping,they will clip your rat nails.Then problem solved :)
