Rats and Dandelions
I took my rats outside for free-range time today (as I often do) and, being a nice sunny day, my little boy Bubba happened upon a lovely big yellow Dandelion. Before I had a chance to decide whether or not he should be friendly with it, he decapitated the thing and was skipping off to his cage with it.
(Bubba has Mycoplasmia, so I'm wanting to make his time here on earth as fun-filled as possible-I didn't want to take it from him)
I know Dandelions are fine for Cavies, so, are they fine fro rats, because no matter how I searched, I couldn't find it (you know how rats are, I'll find it when I lean out the cage)
Will Bubba and Harry be OK?
Answers:what a great responsible owner. dandelions safe for rats? yep, of course =)
IF
they are from somewhere where no dogs, cats, cars etc pollute
I actually grow their own little patch in the corner of my garden full of dandelions, fat hen, burdock etc especially so my rats can have the freshest. they ALL love the flowers the best
re bubbles and myco- did you know[ god i sound patronising but i dont meant to be] that all rats carry myco and a treatment of anti bi's can keep it under control
with good housing and bedding [ no tanks or sawdust] your rat will live a normal life expectancy
I am sorry! I just had one of my own rats put down for Mycoplasmia. She couldn't breathe. You sound very responsible.
