Every one says that you should get 2 rats. But I really just want one. Could this be possible?
Answers:Yes it is possible it's just better to have two..
If you only have one, you need to spend as much time as possbile with it...I mean everytime you are home, they should be out of their cage...
Two rats clean eachother, keep eachother company while you can't and just provide over all comfort to eachother...
If you do not have one and are looking to get only one and will not change you mind, then get a male, they tend to do better alone than females do...

Rats are very social and need company. If you just got one, then she would be very bored and depressed.
i have 2 boy rats. one hairless. one normal. its better to have 2 because they like to have a buddie with them and makes then feel more comfortable and less lonly.

You can get one rat, as long as you give it lots of attention. But rats much prefer to have a friend. I have had rats for years and rats seem so much happier when with another rat. Rats on their own often seem just misarable.
I would reccomend getting 2 rats.
When I was younger I had one female hooded rat. She was the best small pet I ever owned. The rat will be fine by itself you just need to make sure that you take plenty of time to play and care for it. I would let mine run loose in my room with the door closed so she could explore. I would also let her ride on my shoulder while I walked around the house and she would give me kisses. I tried to get her to do a maze with pillows but she would just climb over the pillows to the food and not do the maze. They are really smart and sweet. Have fun with your new friend.
Unless you can constantly play with the one rat, then it would be a really good idea to get two rats. Rats are very social, as others have said, and having a friend would ensure that it's not lonely or bored. It's possible to keep one rat alone, but it would require quite a bit of attention. Still, I strongley suggest getting two. Just make sure that you have enough money to support both of them with vet bills, food, bedding, a bigger cage, etc. It's worth it.
Get 2. It doesn't really cost any more just a little bit bigger of a cage. We have three and they keep each other occupied when we aren't around.
I had one alone successfully.. but I also brought him with me anywhere but work.. (for the most part).. If you can't spend enough time with it then it's not a good idea.. they need alot of interaction.. I had a cat that played with mine as well.. (I really mean "play".. not trying to kill him play.. ) It really isn't hard to keep two...
You should get 2 rats - they are extremely social animals. Most pet shops do deals on rats..for example my 2 pet rats were 拢6 each or 2 for 拢10.
