Does anyone have a recipe for dried corn on the cob which hamsters love to knaw on? I used to have one, but cannot find it. Thanks!
Answers:Do you live in a dry climate? Here in Colorado, it's possible to over-grill the corn on the cob until it is dry and cooked (not burnt), and then hang it up until it is hardened and dry. You can also bake it at low heat in the oven until it is dry, if you live in a humid climate and cannot leave food out. Be sure to let any cooked food cool before you serve it to your animal.
I have one of these hanging in my hamstercage al the time, he absolutley adores them, but I dont know how to dry them out. You can buy them from your local pet store. They sell them in both rodent and the bird section, as birds like them too. So if you have no luck in the hamster section you'll know where else to look, you get2 in a pack for about 拢1.99
I'm not sure what type of hamster you have, but corn (especially dried) should not be given to dwarf hamsters, as they are prone to diabetes- corn contains a high level of sugar. However, you can give your hamster other hard treats to gnaw on such as a dog biscuit or uncooked pasta.
