I heard that roborovski hamsters run (move) very fast and difficult to catch them, is that right?
if I want to get a tamer hamster, should I get a female or male one?
Answers:Yes, that's right. There aren't big differences between males and females. Theoretically are males tamer, but it depends on more terms. Just choose the tammiest hamster.
Get whatever one appeals to you. And I'd recommend male, less chance of getting a pregnant one.
i would suggest a syrian hamster. gender is up to you. syrian hamsters are very tame and easy to handle :)
I would recommend a Russian dwarf hamster...I have a couple and are said to be the most sociable hamsters and get along very well with each other...otherwise I would get a female, just make sure she is not pregnant when you buy her. My hamster had babies the day after I bought her.
yes that is true but they bite hard
They are great to look at but good luck catching one. They are extremely fast. They are bred to have a nicer disposition though, so they do make good pets. Once you get a hold of him/her make sure you are either sitting on the floor or are at least low enough that he/she can't fall too far to the floor. Either sex is sweet and gentle.
"Robo" hamsters are very quick. But you can handle them if you sit in the bathtub with them (with no water in it) when you are learning about them. That will give you more familiarity with them so you can get used to them and vice/versa. My pet store also has a small animal playpen with very close bars that is short enough for you to sit next to and reach in while being too tall for them to get out. In my own personal experience, I have been bitten by far more female hamsters of any breed than males. The key is to get them very young and handle often. Gender has less to do with the tameness of the hamster than socialization. If you don't teach it how to behave, it will not ever know what you expect of it. Handle whichever gender of whichever breed you choose often. Use gentle hands and a soft voice and pumpkin seed rewards.
Yes, I hear that Robos run very fast and they are difficult to catch them.
