Rode trip with rats
my dad and i are going to be driving from texas to indiana, and we are going to be bringing my 2 female rats with us. what are some things i should do to make the trip safe and not to stressful for my rats.
Answers:You should try to keep whatever cage you're bringing them in as similar as possible as their normal cage. For example, use the same litter, water bottle, food bowl, housing and all. That'll make them feel more at home. Some people even suggest putting in a bit of their dirty litter so the rats can smell their territory and feel as if they're at home.
Something you should definitely do is play with them as much as possible while you're in the car. Don't leave them alone too often, make sure they're often with you.
To keep them safe make sure they don't stay inside the car alone too long. They can get stressed, and the car can also get very cold or very hot. Make sure you keep them on the floor, or at least buckle the cage into the seat so they won't be moving around too much. If the cage you're taking them in has a floor they can easily fall off of, discourage them from going up there. This can easily be done by simply keeping all their toys in the bottom level.
Hope this helps and good luck! ^^
well as long as the road isnt bumpy then its ok
It's best to get a smaller cage to travel with, one just big enough for them to move aroung in, but small enough for you to carry around.
