Answers:If you want 2 then I say you should get 2 male gerbils, they are very sociable
I suggest Guinea Pig. I have 2 Guinea Pigs of my own and they both don't scratch, bite and are really sweet tempered and friendly. Guinea Pigs are normally $30 but I recommened buying 2 Guinea Pigs if you are a busy person so your Piggy wont get lonley. Guinea Pigs don't smell that bad but If you clean the cage twice a week it shouldn't smell too bad so kepp your piggys in a place where nobody can be effected. I hope you get your Piggy/Piggies and happy pet shopping! :D
get 2 male or female rat, they get along grate. and they are much more smarter, and sweeter (they don't bite) than gerbils.
i have 2 female rats.
As the previous post said, you should definitely get 2 rats. I find females are good for first timers because the males have quite large genitals which can seem gross to some people. They live 2-4 years, but 4 years is rare. Rats don't carry the plague (back in those days, it was actually the fleas on the rats, among many other animals, that spread the disease), they don't bite, and they are very intelligent, playful, very clean and actually appreciate attention from their owners. I good way to describe having rats is its like someone put a cat's brain in a rodent's body.
2 male gerbils would be the best rodent pair, because unlike hamsters they won't fight (gerbils are social) and they are easier to take care of than rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.
Rat or guinea pig - but keep in mind the REAL money concerns are going to come with the care of your pet, not the relatively cheap purchase price. You'll need a cage, food, bedding, etc...make sure you're prepared for all that!
You really should get two rats of the same gender. They are very social, and great companions. They aren't very hard to care for, and they might as well be called dogs. they are alot like dogs.
