Sad--My baby passed away on July 16, 20072007-11-24 22:14:57

My baby, Pepa (teddy-bear hamster) passed away on July 16, 2007. I miss her sooooo much and can't stop crying. On July 15th, not sure what happened, but her eye started to prolapse and I rushed her to the emergency vet. They told me there was not much to do and she lost her eye sight. They did say that I was with the best Vet in the city who would be able to operate on her and try to save her eye. Brought her in the next day (when the vet opened) and they immediatedly told me they were going to try to save her eye and I would have to consent to surgery, which there is always a possibility that since hamsters are so small, may not survive. I did not have a choice as her eye was buldging out and causing her discomfort. I did agree to the surgery and she actually survived the surgery, but when I got her home that night, she was not moving very well..was sleeping alot. I did everything to keep my baby comfortable, but she passed away at 10:30 pm that evening.

I am sorry to hear that. It always breaks my heart to hear that an animal has died. It is never easy to loose something you love, but you will heal. I tell my sons when we loose one that there are more that need a home to live in, and we have plenty of love to give. We lost a Guinna pig a couple months ago. All of us loved her. I haven't gotten another one, but I am trying to talk dad into letting us get a ferrite. Right now we have 3 dogs and 3 cats. Then we have 2 different aquariums. One is 30 gallons and one is 50 gallons. It will get better I promise. Good Luck.. Hug For Ya.
