Scared Guine Pig Help2007-11-24 22:14:57

My guinea pig has been super scared lately. when i brought him home he was scared but he had calmed down. I introduced him to my bunnn and they were good friends. my bunn died recently and since he has been scared all the time. what can i do for the little guy.

Answers:

I've heard they become very attached to their friends so he is probably depressed. Get him a new friend ASAP. Either a small bunny (since he loved yours) or another piggie. They generally like to snuggle next to each other.

I got my pig another pig to keep her company. Turns out I got a psycho pig that attacked and bullied my 1st pig. She chattered her teeth at her, pulled her hair out, wouldn't let her in the food bowl, and would bite her ears and not let them go even though she'd just scream.

I had to seperate them and wouldn't you know the one that was picked on just stood on top of her cage and screamed for days b/c she missed her nasty friend? The nasty one on the other hand was happy and now wheeks happily all day long.

Be sure to get another pet who is social!

Well, since your bunny died, your guinea pig may be traumatized. He might be scared that your the cause of the bunny's death (not saying that you are >.<), but it probably stunned him a bit. He will be okay but you might want to get him a new friend later. I would suggest another bunny that would be fit to be friends with a guinea pig or you might just want to get another gunea pig. I would say get another "good friend" for your guinea pig ASAP, but for the time being, keep your guinea pig well-fed, clean, cozy and fit. Just let him relax for awhile then get a new friend. Maybe that would work. Well, I hope my answer helps. Good luck!
Obviously he has become a social animal. try getting a neww cage-mate. I reccomend a new rabbit, hampster, or some other small rodent. try to remain calm and quiet, as rodents can die of fear.
In the wild, Guinea pigs roam in packs. They're very social towards other pigs, and I'd recommend getting him another buddy. Until them, give him lots of extra love and attention. : )
