Should I buy another gerbil2007-11-24 22:15:21

I bought two gerbils last september and they were sisters but one of them got killed. The gerbil that is left seems really bored and I have bought her toys but she still seems lonely. I play with her regularly but i still dont know wether i should get another.

Okay, you may feel that you should buy another friend for your gerbil, but, the truth of the matter is, your gerbil will not get along with a new gerbil. They will fight automatically. It's just how little critters act. Try to play with your gerbil more often. Maybe on the floor of your room, but make sure you keep a good eye on him or her. If your gerbil does not seem to change his feelings, you can go to the pet store and ask the person working there what you should do.

The gerbil that you still have doesn not have much of a chance of getting along with another gerbil, I am sorry to tell you. You can try to gradually introduce her to another one, but please be careful, and seperate them if they start to fight. Littermates that have lived together all of their life long are much better cagemates.
