Should I cut my rats Nails

Should I cut my rats Nails2007-11-24 22:15:22

I have 2 rats. I wanted to know if you should clip their nails and/or how do you know what their nails get too long? Right now they are quite sharp rather than long.

Answers:

I had rats for a project in high school. When thair nails get too long they should be clipped either by using a baby nail clipper or if your rat will let you take an emory board and file the points away.

If you know what you're doing yes,but be careful not to clip their little toes :)
cut them if they get to long there scratches hurts!!
I would use a nail file, or a dremel tool sander. My rats never had that problem. They took care of it on their own. I would never use clippers because you might hit the quik which is painful for them.
If you were to cut your rats nails, you'd have to be extremely careful not to cut them too much. When I had rats, one of their nails became extremely long, so my neighbor (who had owned rats before and knew what she was doing) trimmed his nails. If you decide you don't want to do it, there may be places where people can cut the nails for cheap. I hope this helps!
Well, yeah, I think you should cut them, but if your unsure about whether you can do it yourself or not, then ask your vet or something.

Hope I helped!

y can't because u mite cut into the bone marrow it will bleed u should just file them
Your rats do not need their nails clipping unless they get too long.
