Should I get a guinea pig2007-11-24 22:15:24

I have a couple of questions

Are they like hamsters do they make noise at night

(i know they can't have a wheel)

I heard u have to take them to an exotic vet doctor but there is a vet near my house that says small animals only does that include guinea pigs

also i own a hamster but it is not that great it bites all the time (its a syrian) do guinea pigs bite or scratch

I love guinea pigs. They are sooooo cute. They r da best kind of pet u could have. They dont scratch, they bite but they r not hard so u don't bleed. They cost about 20 quid in da UK.

No they don't make that much noise at night. They are active both day and night. Small animal vets MIGHT know how to care for guinea pigs, call and ask them. Otherwise, find an exotic vet and call them. Most pigs will not bite unless they are scared, in pain, or you smell like food. Young ones may nip, but grow out of it. If you keep their nails trimmed, they will not scratch.

No they do not make noise at night they are like humans; play in the day and sleep at night. (its a good thing that you know they cant have a wheel or a running ball). Guinea pigs ARE included in the small animal section. Guinea pigs almost never bite they are actually the gentlest rodent of them all. Guinea pigs do have nails that can scratch you but it is almost never on purpose and you can use ordanary nail clippers to cur them.

I would stay with the hamster because the guinea pig can be a little noisy, and they make bigger messes.
