Should I put two male hedgehogs together in a cage2007-11-24 22:15:04

I am buying hedgehogs and wondering if I should get two males, and if so can I put them together in a cage without them fighting. I will be getting these hedgehogs when they are about 6-8 weeks old.

Hedgehogs are territorial, and therefore, males should not be put in a cage together - they will fight for space, food, and territory. Hedgehogs are nocturnal, so you may not notice the fighting until you see the results in the morning, but they can inflict nasty bites. Somtimes, they will fight to the death. These animals like their space too - they do not like to share - singular pets are often the best since they often live a solitary life even in the wild. If you really want two, it may be best to get two females.

i wouldn't suggest it they can become Territorial but if there that young maybe get a extra cage just in case

First off, I'm an animal lover. I'm not as freaky as PETA. I live in the country in Missouri. I get up in the morning, get coffee, and get on the Puter to check E-mails, and get on Y/A. Out my window, in the expanse of land and brush, etc., there are lots of wild critters. Hedgehogs are part. They grow big. Bad idea for a pet. It just isn't right. Guinea pigs, or something else is better.

No, not a good idea. It is risky enough putting females in the same cage, let alone males! They are solitary animals.. they are only together when they mate!

lol doesn't it make you laugh when people reply 'they are wild animals'... DUHHH it is a different type of hedgehog! Not the type you're thinking of!! These cost around 拢100!
