Should i breed my guineapigs
b4 everyone starts saying no im totally against animal breeding, usually, but in this case we would keep the babies and there is a local pet store that i would ask if they would take the males before we breed our piggies
ok so my sister got a guinea pig from petsmart on march 25, it was a baby but i dont know how old exactly, and i got an adult male, dont know how old but he is an adult. they live in separate cages. we want to breed them every time they smell eachother they squeal!we would keep the female babies but i dont know if u should do it and i know i would have to do a lot of reasearch first
but ur input would help a lot
thanks!
Answers:even though breeding a guinea pig would be fun and educatinal it is a bad idea as there are too many animals in pet shelters you say you are going to keep the females but the males could end up being put to sleep because noone wants them or they went to a wrong home it would be better if you didn't breed from the start you say you are against animal breeding so there is youre answer
the other aspects for breeding animals is that
1] the pups and the sow could die if one of the pups get stuck or are dead in the womb
2] the finalcial implications more hutches more feeds if they live in a huge hucth who knows if they get along my two brothers gps take huge chunks out of each other
3]vet bills for an emegancy vist checkups and vaccinations
4]last but not least are you willing to feed the pups on the hour every hour if youre sow dosn't feed them or if she developes mastitis
