Should i get 2 female rats2007-11-24 22:15:22

Every one says that females are very active. Everyone also says that males pee alot, And I dont want to deal with the smell of pee. So should i get to female rats?

Yah thats what i did. I just got two female baby rats yesterday. males are also just as sweet as girls but yes they do pee alot. But then again so does one of my girls. Boys tend to be more calm down and lazy. Girls are more adventourous and playful. I like girls rats best. I've had 3 girl rats and 2 boys. I think over all i like girls the best

i have both female and male right now (seperate cages)

and i think the males are sweeter :)

honestly though i don't think males pee anymore than females

Females are very active. I've had a total of 13 rats over the past few years, both male and female. Currently I have three girls and they're constantly climbing the cage, wrestling and causing trouble. When they're out, they're still trying to run around and explore. Silly girls. Boys, on the other hand, are more content sitting in your lap and being petted. Both are great, but it depends on what you prefer. Boys do have a sort of a musky odor to them, but it's not unbearable. They do scent mark, as well.

i can't comment on whether males are friendlier, or more cuddly because i have only had girls.

i can tell you that girls are active and want more cuddle time when there older. as for the pee thing, if you don't keep the cage clean, its going to smell like pee whether you have a boy or a girl.

i can tell you that i have been to peoples houses that have male rats and they tend to have their own smell due to their musk.

all in all i'm sure you'll love whatever you get.
