people no mean answers or i will report you!!! i have a few questions

should i get a male or female?

should i get 1 or 2 rats?

do they escape out of there cages alot?

are they fun to have as a pet?

do they smell?

can they stay in hamster cages?

Please help!!!

Answers:

First of all I think it is *great* you are looking into getting some rats!

1. What gender you get is up too you. Males tend to do more laid back, less active and more cuddly. Females are smaller than males, and are active and adventurous. Both genders are friendly and loving and make equally good pets.

2. Definetly get at least 2 rats! Rats are very social and thrive in pairs or groups.

3. The only way a rat will escape is if the cage door is open, or if the cage is poorly designed.

4. Rats are very fun to have as pets! They bond to you just like a dog or cat would (you can even teach them to come when you call). They will let you hold them, kiss them, and cuddle them.

5. Rats do not generally smell if their cages are kept clean (about once a week).

6. No they can not stay in hamster cages. They are way to small!

Actually, they are good pets. I suggest gettinga Female and only getting one, Females are less aggressive and live a bit longer, as for smelling, ummm they do, but not as bad as ferrets. Most rats can fit through holes the size of dollar coins, so it depends on what kind of hamster cage you have. They are fun, bcause they LOVE to be petted and stroked, in fact they love it more than the average cat or dog. And if they do escape, they are really hard to find, and they will run away, but alot of them are really loyal.

FEMALES! i have two beautiful rats and ilove them to pieces. they are the sweetest animals in the world. iHAVE never had my rats escape. they smell but you can get rid of that by changing the cage frequently. Hamster cages are a little to small. they are very fun and they are soooo precious. get two so that they have a companion and dont get lonely. get two females.Hope this answers your questions. :-D Females dont smell as much as males.

YYYEEESSS! rats are so smart!!!1 male or female doesnt matter they all have their ups and downs. yes get 2 rats no they dont escape alot... mine dont and u can train them to go back to their cage when told so. THEY ARE VVEEERRRYYYY FUUUNNNNN. no they dont smell. hamster cages wont work well.

petsmart has healthy pets that are all vet assured (they sit at a vet's office for two weeks and are checked many times to ensure their health and are given any vaccines they may need). males tend to bond better with humans and they like groups, so i'd say get 2. they are very smart (they can even learn to respond to their own name and learn simple tricks) and make AMAZING pets! they need bigger cages than hamsters though - so buy a rat cage and CAREFRESH bedding (do NOT use any type of woodshavings as bedding for a rat - it's dangerous). have fun!

Rats are great pets. I do suggest buying a baby and handling it alot. They are smart and affectionate. Rats are much bigger then hamsters so it's best to get at least a 40 gallon tank A rat will outgrow a hamster cage quickly. They do not smell if you keep the tank clean.
