sooo i really want a rat but is it smart that i get one?

Answers:

Rats are awesome but you need to get 2 (same sex). Rats are very social and they can occupy/entertain each other while you are gone or sleeping.

With patience you can teach them tricks and even teach them to use a litter box. We have 3 females and it really doesn't cost any more money to own 2 then it does 1.

EDIT:

They don't smell either, unless you don't clean the cage. They are very clean and constantly groom themselves. I spot clean the cage a couple times a week and completely clean it out once a week, again we have 3.

Rats are cute and cuddly, but they really stink (smell wise). To keep its tank smell-free, you have to clean it alot. They are also very messy. But if you can deal with these things, then get one, it's your chouce! :-)
