Should i get one guinea pig or two so they wont be lonely AND2007-11-24 22:15:01

are guinea pigs soliary? is it ok if they live in the same cage together for the rest of their lives? will they fight? should i get it boy and girl boy boy or girl girl? AND if i do get one or two can i let it run aruond my house soemtimes wont it escape? PLEASE HELP THIS IS MY LAST Q OF THE DAY LOL

i had a lot of guinea pigs when i was really little. they were a lot of fun except we had boys and girls and they mated so we ended up with like 20 some guinea pigs. we gave most of them away but if you are going to get some (they should be in pairs, they shouldn't be alone) and you if you don't want more than you get i suggest getting the same sex so you don't end up breeding guinea pigs. it was a lot of fun to have really little ones though. good luck

I'd only get one because, when I was little we had two guiena pigs and the one ate the other one. But I would get a girl and get her one of those little ball things and let it run around. If you think it will get loney, you can put a mirror in its cage or a stuff anmial its size and let the radio play when you leave the house. good luck.

definatly get more than one, but girls, buys fight and a female and male will produce mant other babies! ^__^

U would get 2 b/c 1 will get lonely (They will make a high pitched oink-like noise if they're lonely) I think it's okay 2 live in the same cage 4 life, and I'm not sure if they'll fight. I have a boy and a boy and they're fine. I only let it out in my room ;cuz when I let it out downstairs it hid under the couch and we had 2 go underneath the couch.

Guinea pigs NEED a companion. I have had boars who have had to live alone (for breeding purposes) and they didn't mix with me as well. They are much friendlier and overall happier when they have another guinea pig by their side.
