Yes, or else he will get fat. I have a female, and when I didn't do that, the b*tch gained like 8 ounces. That's devastating for a small animal. She had a drum belly, and a double chin. I controlled her meals (wiping out lunch for a few days), and got her on an exercise regiment (walking in the park 3 days/wk). She literally got back in shape in 7 days. Now, she exercises, but I include the lunch, and even throw in this protein supplement once/day. That b*tch is a model again.

Its a safe way for him to have the frredom of running around without you loosing him and him coming to any harm.

Yes. Hamsters can get very hyper and board if you don't put them in the exercise ball every night. (Night would be better because that is when they're awake) It will prevent them making a lot of noise at night because it will help them release some energy and calm down.

i think your hamster will let you know, if you open the cage and it comes over to get out then let it out if it doesnt it might be busy sorten bedding or gathering food, it is good for them and if they want it why not do it :)
