Should i take my dwarf hamster to LA2007-11-24 22:15:05

I have russian dwarf hamster..and i'm planning to go to L.A which is 6 hours away from where i live. I was thinking about leaving him here. but my house gets hot up to 85 degrees. so i was thinking about bringing him. but isn't a long car ride bad for hamsters? and i don't have anyone to take care of him while i'm gone. Should i leave him home..or bring him along?

If you leave him at home he is likely to be dead when you return. So long as the car has A/C and you don't leave him in there when you stop for breaks, he should be fine.

well i brought a fish on a 4 day trip when i moved last year and the fish made it just fine! if you are worried that your hamster willnto be ok alone while you are gone...there wouldnt be any problem in bringing him with you. i dont knwo how much a burden it owuld be to take him with you. ifi were you i would go down toyour local petsmart or petco and talkto once of therepeople and see how to travel with a hamster. the car ride would not hurt him and he would do fine...but im sure they can give in detail what you would need and what the best way to take him with you is. but if you can try to find someone to either come over and check on him or see if someone can take him while ur away on ur trip..they arent to hard to take care of..its not liek tis a dog...but if you cant find anyone he would do jsut fine on the car ride!

leave it, it'll be fine. 85 isn't too hot. just make sure it has plenty of food and water.

If you do plan on taking him with you make SURE he dose NOT get cold and the ac doesn't blow right on him! They get sick very very easy!

just leave him at home, leave plenty of water for him and open t a window in the same room so he soesnt get to hot. he should be ok! oh n 'lo2400', fish are completely differant to hamsters!
