My one bear hamster ALWAYS is swuealing..when I hold him to when I put food in her cage. Ive read that hamsters only squeal when they are in pain or stressed. Is this true?
Answers:They will squeak, when startled, scared and in pain.
Are you holding him (her? you used both, so I'll just assume it's a he) correctly?
If he squeals that often, he might be sick--or the heat may be bothering him. If it's hot, throw a towel over his cage to give him shade and make sure his water is cold. A trip to the vet might be worth your while to make sure he's healthy and not in pain.
well it probabl just doesnt like u oh well ... what did u do 2 it
I know that sound quite well. Usually hamsters do that when they are scared. It may take awhile, but he needs to be tamed and get used to you - he needs to realize that you are not an enemy. Does he let you hold him? My guess would be no simply because everytime I have been around hamster that squeal and squeak like that, they automatically put their hands up to their face (as a show of defense) and roll on their backs and squeal. Just work with him and over time, he will come around:-) Good Luck.
yes, the hamster probably does not like the way you handle it.It probably feels uncomfortable
it is mad or it does not feel safe
Oh dear, im afraid to say it is 100% true. Hamsters, if happy and relaxed are very quiet, they busy themselves all night, sleep all day and adore coming out of their cages for some play time. hamsters that are scared, feel threatened or want to be left alone will squeal, hiss, or make grinding noises with their teeth.
