Stange odor from my rabbit2007-11-24 22:15:08

yea my rabbit is a female an has a strange odor coming from her i think its her scent glands but it smells really bad she is 6 months and she has a really bad attitude worse than usually i need help with this because she smells really bad and my dad says that if it stay ill have to give her away and i dont want that

i dont want to get her fixed i want her to have babies but not now so yea im thinking of getting her a mate soon i dont want her to have any surgery

i was playing with her yesterday it was fine no odor but now she smells

the scent glands between her legs look bigger and bright pink is it possible that its swollen is she in heat its definetly not dirty because i bath her as well as she baths herself so i take it shes extra clean

she is an indoor rabbit but i occasionally take her outside to run around and she runs around the house when she isnt in her cage

what else can i do besides get her fixed of her scent glands removed

thanks in advance

Her being moody is probably because she wants bred. Thats probably what the smell is from too. Although rabbits don't go into heat they can get to where they want breed really bad, thats sorta what it sounds like to me. Especially her being pink..

I wouldn't suggest getting her fixed or removing her scent glands, because the medicine they use to put them to sleep is bad for rabbits, and alot of the time they don't come out of it... So you can either stand the smell until you want to breed her, it might go away eventually, try the other stuff thats been suggested, or breed her right away.
