Syrian or Dwarf hamster

Syrian or Dwarf hamster2007-11-24 22:15:12

I am going to be looking into hamsters in a few weeks and i want to know which i should get, a syrian or a dwarf?

Which breed is friendlier?

Which is easier to handle?

Which has less tendency to try to escape?

Answers:

Here are your answers:

1). Which breed is friendlier?= I would say the syrian. Dwarfs seem to be a little more pickier.

2). Which is easier to handle?= Defanetly the syrian! The dwarfs tend to crawl all over your hands and can fall REALLY easy!

3). Which has less tendency to try to escape?= the syrian. The dwarfs can squezze through even the smallest bar of the cage!

I hope that this answers your questions! Thanks, and good luck!

Syrian hamster. They are more friendly... They are also easier to handle once they are tame. Also the Dwarf hamster is more likely to get out. Syrian hamsters are good first time hamsters ( if it's your first hamster) But Dwarf hamsters are good too. But I would suggest a Syrian hamster. Good luck, and have fun choosing!
I have 2 syrian golden hamsters, 3 teddy bear hamsters, & a tortouise shell hamster.

The golden hamsters tend to be meaner [especially females]

The teddy hansters have longer fur, & are soooooo cute, fuzzy & cuddly.

My tortouise shell is my baby. I take her everywhere. She like any rodent, all hyped up about everything.

Males are generally more friendly in general.
