Teddy Bear Hamster Tips
I have 2 gerbils and I would like to buy teddy bear hamster that would go in a separate cage. The reason I want a teddy bear hamster is because they are so cute and my friend has one and she cuddles with it all the time, which i would do. Any tips? I mean obviously I know what to buy for it because I already have two gerbils, but more like handling tips, ya know? Serious answers only please.
Answers:They are cute little things:) I have one myself. Handling I would say is first time you handle one put your hand in the cage to let him sniff you and catch your scent. also talk to it a little. DONT pick it up the first time. Let it get used to you. Then pet him a little on the back the 2nd or 3rd day. then pet him a little more every day for a weeek. Then see if you can pick him up:) It worked for me and my hamster absolutly loved me! also one more tip. They can be little brats! If you get a glass caage get a wire mesh cover. Because they WILL escape. happened to me 5 times and he chew up a fifty $ book:( So mad! But glad to tell it to you before it happens. have fun with your new hamster!
Make sure that you choose one that is used to being handled. If not , you may end up bleeding. (they are sensative)
they arent that much differant from your gerbils
same rules apply, as in let it wake up before you try to pick it up, give it fresh veggies 3 times a week, yah know.
