My teddy bear hamster is 5 months old and already knows how to open the door of his cage.What do I do to Keep him in the cage?(He has already escaped 12 times and 5 were during the night!)

Answers:

He is so naughty! The only answer is to some how wire the door shut at night, and take it off when you want to take him out, maybe use some thick string.

If you have the money another option would be to buy a bigger, more spacious cage so he is constantly occupied and not wanting to escape. My teddy bear hamster had a huge 3 storey cage, and when he wants to come out he will go to where the door is and sit patiently glaring at me till i take him out. They are clever creatures!

use a twistey tie to keep the gate securely closed. good luck! those things are so cute.

Try using a twist tie or get a small lock to put on it. You could get a different cage, that you have to hook on the surrounding part of the door inorder to get it opened and closed.

ok teddy bear hampsters are smart and iwold put a book aginst it but that dosent work you may want to get a glass aqarium with a net at top the cant escap that

prod a book to the cage so he won't have strength to push it? get a lock with a key etc
