The best things for a guines pig2007-11-24 22:15:15

I am going to get a guines pig but I need some answers.

*Do you think if I have 2 guinea pigs they will be comfortable in a cage that is 2 sq ft on 2 levels?

*What is the best guines pig breed?

*What is a cheap/good bedding to use?

*What kind of toys/chew toys are good for a guinea pig?

Also any other tips would be appricated.

Yes they should be very comfortable in that.

I would just get a self guinea pig first. Are you a new piggie owner? If you are, I wouldn't go with a Sheltie, or a Peruvian guinea pig.

**a heads up, short hair breeds are much easier to take care of, longer hair breeds need to be groomed almost every day or else their hair will become matted and it could become very painful for a piggie**

I am using Aspen right now. But, some other bedding you can get is either Carefresh, Pine, or you can just use Fleece. DO NOT USE CEDAR SHAVINGS. They are dangerous and very harmful to your piggie. There are more brands, but the best ones are preferably Carefresh and Aspen.

Well, the items needed are, a house (Pigloos work great), a hay rack (optional, but if you put your hay on the bedding, you will need to change it pretty much daily because of poo and pee), Timothy Hay (this brand works best), guinea pig pellets with a good source of vitamin C. lots of veggies, a water bottle, foodbowl, and plenty of love! :)
