The cat messed with a baby rabbit how do we take care of it
It is very little. The rabbit is being kept in a cage wrapped in a towel. We are guessing only a week or two old. It has no internal damage that we know of, but its fur is off in some areas. It isnt very active, but is also very scared and shaking. (Except when being pet behind the head.) Its so cute! We want to keep it alive! There are many animal lovers in this household! Any help on what it eats or what would be best for it would be great!
Answers:The best thing would be to let it go where you found it or where you think it might live. The mother rabbit is probably looking for it. The mom rabbit did not abandon it, she probably was away when the cat attacked. You should really keep your cat inside if you do not want it to kill innocent little animals.
If you keep it it will probably die of a heart attack.
get a little baby pet bottle and fill it with half water and half milk warm it up and feed it to him
chances are it will eventually die of shock or a heart attack, wild rabbits are not use to being captive. But if you do put it back do so after you know it is okay and not injured maybe get some advice from a vet.
Hi Paige, Best thing to do is immediately contact your local animal shelter or rescue organisation. The links should be of help-good luck!
Feed it reconstituted canned milk from a dropper or with cloth dipped in milk. Or go to the vet and get formula. Feed it regularly, when its larger give it rabbit pellets and dry hay plus water. It will survive and thrive. Feed it no lettuce or other such. Perahps a strawberry or bit of raw carrot when its large enough as a treat. Set it free when its about 2/3's grown.
Lock them together alone in a room and they will settle their differences on their own. It is almost impossible to raise wild rabbits in captivity, they always die. It stops shaking when you pet it behind the ears because it is afraid you are making a death grab and it is kissing its butt good bye. The local park system has a nature center with assorted wildlife, if you bring them a baby rabbit they feed it to one of the snakes or birds of prey. If you let the cat have the rabbit you are doing nothing worse than you would be by trying to raise it.
OMG That is horrible well take it to a vet or an animal shelter it is probably best for it. But I have a feeling they won't let you keep it that is what happened to me once with a bird with a broken wing we took it to the vet and they said that I couldn't keep it and they took it to this place where it got looked after until it could fly again. I know it would be sad to have to let it go but just remember it is best for the little bunny. Good Luck! And you are so kind to look after it!
forutnaley for you i used to live in the ghetto and i found lots of injured rabbits and had to take care of them
what i did i was got a big enclousre or plastic box
put some dirt and grass and lil bit of cloth
and then for food i gave it apples carrots celery potatoes dady lions and rabbit pellets
and of course water
I would put it back into an area were the cat can't get to it and hope for the best. I have had this happen many times as we have many wild rabbits on our property and have tried to take care of them but almost all died. sorry
