it says it is edible and safe, but it is made of pine, will this harm my rat if i give it to him, it also has alfalfa

Alfalfa is completely indigestible to rats. It won't hurt them but they get absolutely nothing from it.

Pines, cedars and the like are not good for a rat's respiratory health.

Don't get the Snak Shak. It's really not good for the rat. Igloos provide decent shelter, and they also seem to like the woven basket homes... although they do chew those.

Cardboard is also fine. They chew it but it doesn't harm them.

As for rattie diet, give them mostly grains and vegetables. That's what keeps them healthy and happy.

don't use cardboard boxes because of the dyes that may be in them or chemical process that may have been used to turn it into cardboard. if it says its edible than it is. rats need to chew or their teeth will continue to grow.

yea its good, i have two of them , and 4 pet rats, only one of them likes to chew on it, i have never had anything bad happen to him from eating his house, so i guess its safe! go for it
