I had 2 female rats die from cancer and I am on my 3rd female right now. I asked the vet about preventing cancer and she said that there is nothing that you can do to prevent it. If you do get another rat just make sure you take good care of it so that if she has cancer she can have a good life as long as she can.
I have recently read that red seedless grapes can help fight cancerous cells in a rats body. I have fed some to my female and she loves them, maybe grapes will help.
