I use empty glass aquariums and bath my rat, you can also try baking soda mixed into the liter to absorb the smell.

I jest bath my rats in water and shampoo, a good idea for bedding that smells nice is hay it's really good (GO HAY!)

well i have had a total of 13 rats at different times in my life and none of them smelled really.it may be that you need to change the bedding to a more organic substance i wouldnt recomend cleaning them with baby wipes and stuff

Solid-bottomed wire cages are best, tanks do not give Ratty proper ventilation. You should never use wood-shaving bedding, it has harmful chemicals in it that can kill your ratties. I suggest carefresh Ultra, you should be able to find it at any pet-supply store around the world. You should change your cage every week. if they are still stinky after that you might should take them to the vet to make sure they have no diarhea problems.

a palstic or glass cage will not be ventilated enough you need a wire cage. they most likely will chew the plastic. you can build a wooden cage, just look them up online for plans.
