What can I use instead of a bottle feeder for rabbits
You know those rabbit water bottles that hang on rabbit cages? Can I use a normal food bowl filled with water instead?
Answers:Yes you can. My rabbit only had water in her bowl for the first couple of years as i didn't even know about the bottle feeder. The problem with the bowl was that on hot days it evaperated, it used to get wasted because sometimes she would tip her bowl or sometimes i would have to change it because it was attached to her food bowl and sometimes she would spill her food into it. Also sometimes she would get poo in it too. Later i used to use both but i usually saw her drink from the bowl. I think they can drink more from the bowl because the bottle only comes out in drops. I think the best thing to do is to use both, that way just incase she does tip her bowl over or runs out of water at least she has the bottle there for some water. Also don't use someting huge for a water bowl because I would be worried the rabbit could fall in and drown. If you have a lot of rabbits it would be better to use many water bowls rather than a huge one.
I always used a tip-proof dish (they have them at pet stores and online). I would fill it up about half way, and change the water daily or whenever it got dirty.
bacikley rabit's culd feed them self's so you culd just put some water and carots and let the rabit feed him self
wish you luck!
you sure can, they will drink it
give your rabbit a bowl of water and test it out, if in a couple of days the rabbit is dehydrated, then i'd say no. what do you have against the hanging water bottle? I have a rabbit, I choose the hanging water bottle and she seems to agree.
Yes you can.
Yes, you can use a normal food bowl, that is exactally what my friend does because hers wont drink from a bottle. Make sure the water bowl is heavy, though, so it wont tip over when your rabbit is drinking and spill all over the cage. (Hope this helps!!)
