What can I use to clean my gerbils cage2007-11-24 22:16:04

I need some kind of solution to clean my gerbils cage but I don't know what solutions work and which r bad for them please help.... thank u

The safest thing to use is vinegar. You can dilute it with water or use it alone. Just scoop out bedding and wipe down with the vinegar and let dry. Put in new bedding and your done. Vinegar is 100% safe for everyone.

They have a non toxic cleaner/deodorizer called Super Pet Clean cage safe deodorizer. Or there is Nilodor Small Animal Cage Cleaner. They both work pretty good.

if ur trying to keep the odor away, use pledge. if ur just trying to clean it out, just get rid of all the shavings and stuff and use some newspaper and shavings to replace the old stuff. hope this answers ur question.

yo can actually buy special products from the pet shop in spray form or good old fashioned mild detergant and water rinse thoroughly if you think you rinsed it well rinse again it wont do it any harm

I've never used this method on a gerbil cage, but it works well for rabbits and birds. First clean out all shavings, paper, etc. If you have access to a garden hose, get a nozzle that sprays a strong, jet of water. That way you can spray any remaining shavings or anything that is stuck to the cage right off. Then you can spray it down with a mixture of vinegar and water (I believe 50/50 is the right mixture). Before putting the cage back together, make sure it is completely dry or the shavings will just clump up, and stick to the cage even more and maybe even get moldy.

i have two albino gerbils and i just use soap and water but make sure all the soap has gone before you put your gerbil back in to it. hope this helps. x

i amde a home made guinea pig cages and part of them were wood and you couldnt just spray them with a hose, so i used (which it says on the bottle) not mean green (cause i think its toxic) or maybe it is, but its nontoxic the stuff is green and you can get it at family dollar or walmart but at walmart its in the cleaning section and with the car cleaning stuff, but this stuff works awesome and its safe on all surfaces and with babies even but it really cleans

I think that you can just use a simple solution of water and VERY LITTLE dishwashing soap, like PalmOlive. Just make sure to thoroughly rinse after washing, and have fun with your furry little friend!
