What can i do to get the Guinea pig smell out of my room2007-11-24 22:16:40

my guiney pig, steve, stinks very bad. i change his cage every other day and give him a monthly bath, every sence i've had him. i want to keep him but everyone (sort of including myself) wants to give him away becasue of his stink, what can i do to get rid of that foul oder? i spray air freshaners, every time i clean his cage, ( but take him out because i dont know if it'll hurt him to breathe in all that strong smelling spray :) ) anyone know how i can get rid of the smell??

Try changing the litter shavings..

or using a different kind that absorb the odor better .like cedar shavings.

I had the same problem with a hamster. What you have to do is to open all windows and leave them open for 2-3 days.

This might only work on hamsters but its worth a try...;)

Option 1: Don't keep your guinea pig in your room, if possible.

Option 2: Talk to your vet about odor minimizing shampoos.

open windows or get a fan. you can try oust too. it's similar to febreeze but i think it actually works better. you might also want to take steve to the vet for odor reducing shampoo.

change the kind of bedding you use! also use like dog or cat instant bath wipes to keep him smelling good so you dont have to actually bathe in that much. use oust air disenfectant.

Buy a goat. Wet it down. Let dry. You won't ever smell guinea pig again; all you'll smell is---goat.

Clean out everything in his cage and wipe it down with plain vinegar. It's great for eliminating smells from urine, etc. Get it into all the little nooks and crannies. Then use a good absorbent litter such as Carefresh or Yesterday's News and remove wet bedding as often as possible.
