What can i feed my guinea pig
spinach, carrots, cabbage (although they can be fussy and like leafy cabbage best, not the crinkly stuff), apples, baby sweetcorn, tomatoes, articoke leaves, dandelions, celerly, radish, beetroot, strawberries, grapes, turnips, grass, hay, brussels, cucumber, spring greens, guinea pig museli mix (they're not keen on the green pellet stuff, guinea pig treats etc.
They also like lettuce but this can make them ill so give it them in moderation.
You could try them on anything leafy as they will leave it if they don't like it.
mine likes raw sprouts and also a piece of toast in the morning.
He is partial to a bit of melon also for a treat.
They need lots of green leafy veggies ~ at least one cup per piggy a day. They also need vitamin C (don't use those drops in the water).
Green and Yellow Peppers are a great source of vitamin c (so are red ones, but they're higher in sugar).
Greens:
Red Leaf lettuce, Green Leaf lettuce, Romaine, Swiss Chard, Cilantro, Curly Endive
Spinach, Kale, and Collard Greens are very high in Calcium, A, and oxalates, so give very sparingly, or better yet ~ not at all.
Carrots are O.K. at about a baby carrot size once a day per piggy. They don't really have much nutritional value for them.
1-2 cherry tomatoes per day.
Artichoke, Cucumber, summer and winter squash, Arugula, garden Cress, Dandelion greens, and Parsley can all be given a couple of times a week.
