What do I do when I go out of town2007-11-24 22:16:13

Ihave a dwarf hamster and I am going out of town. No one is home, so how do I make sure tht she is okay?

Maybe leave her with a friend or family member!

put up an add at the post office, or pay some kids to look after it, like pay someone to babysit it or come and feed it. thats what i do when i leave. but make sure you get responsible kids lol.

Get a relative or someone to watch him! I'm going out of town to Belton next week, and my uncle Robert is watching my 10 pets.

Have someone hamster sit for you. Usually friends, neighbors, etc.

If that is not a resort, than before you leave, be sure your hamsters have enough water and food, clean cage. She should be ok for a week.

She'll only really need to have food and water. Is there someone who can come in and feed her while you are gone? Or maybe someone whose house you could take her cage to? Would you be able to carry her cage with you? That wouldn't work if you are flying, however, but if you are driving it should probably be fine.

If possible get a neighbour to pop in every day or every other day to make sure she is ok. This is what I do if im going away.

If there is no one at all you can think of that could pop in to check on her, as long as she has lots of food and a full water bottle it will be ok to leave her for a few days unattended.

Do you have someone that can check in on it? Also, maybe your local vet can board the hamster for you. Call around.

I would leave her with a trusted friend or get a pet sitter!
