What do baby wood mice or vole eat2007-11-24 22:16:09

We have just found a baby Vole (Or wood mouse not sure but details at bottom). It's very cute but we need to know what we should feed it because we're not sure. We need to know soon or it might die. Please help!

Fur: Brown with Black underneath

Face: Round

Tail: Short and not too thin but not too fat

sounds like a vole, but idk, we have gray ones here. if he really is a baby, he probably still needs milk. do not give them regular milk though, you'll need to buy some KMR (kitten Milk Replacer). if you think it's old enough to eat solids, i'd try baby cereal, veggies or bugs.

depending on its age really, eyes shut it needs lactol or kittenmilk from a dropper eyes open it still needs lactol/kitten milk but also suppliment it with natural things try getting some ceedee, this is baby bird food with insects in and making a porridge with it by adding lactol

dried meal worms full of yummy protein

scrambled eggs no milk added

berries [ not too many though] frsh or dried

fresh or dried nuts like pecans, hazelnuts, walnuts try looking for some packets in the bakery section if no fresh are available,

NOT peanuts fresh, roasted or salted

suppliment this with some mouse food, lab blocks, rat nuggets/rat muesli so it gets used to eating dried food too
