What do guinea pigs need to chew on to keep their teeth short
Untreated branches of trees like maple, apple, aspen etc are great. Cardboard boxes and cardboard toilet rolls stuffed with hay are another good choice, they won't totally eat the whole cardboard box/roll and it should not be a staple part of their diet although as a chew toy and as a toy it is a great choice. Fresh produce which they actually have to gnaw on is helpful but you do need to supplement this with the hay if not anything else, vegetables like bell peppers, baby carrots (1 per pigger per day), celery etc are good examples, fruits like apple slices, pear slices etc are good although all fruits should only be fed on occasions as they are high in sugar. Most importantly hay, hay not only files their teeth but it helps immensley with their digestive system, thus why all guinea pigs should have unlimited hay. Pet store chewing blocks and toys are literally a waste of money, I got heaps of chewing sticks and blocks from my local pet store and they do not use them at all, this is the same with most (if not all) guinea pigs. Another post suggested salt licks, along with mineral licks these should not be fed to guinea pigs. Taking your guinea pig to the vet to get his/her teeth filed is an absolute last resort.
Carrots. Make sure they are shaven and washed.
Have your Vet take a look, the piggie may need his teeth filed. They eat apples and carrots and broccoli and tooth problems do not seem to be prevelent.

You can get them chew sticks at your local pet store. They also like carrot sticks.
wooden toys are good, they should always have hay too and veggies such as carrot.
Anything that they can possibly chew on. My guinea pigs kept their teeth short by chewing on anything they could get their teeth on whether it was the bars on the Cage, their little house, hay, and food.
at maybe at like Petco or somewhere else there are little wooden colored blocks.Try those!!
