What do i do if HAMSTER ISNT DRINKING OUT OF WATER BOTTLE2007-11-24 22:16:12

please help!! my hamster isnt drinking out of watter bottle what do i do?

Answers:

Check the water bottle is working. It should have water dripping out of it at all times and bubbles should go up when the hamster starts drinking.

If it's working, pick up your hamster and put the bottle in front of her face, so the mouthpiece is close to her face. She should start licking it.

My hamster had this problem and when i tried feeding her by myself ([above]) it actually worked. I hope this helps ..!

Try getting him a water bowl, and check to see if the water bottle is working right.

Get a dish instead. It may not know how to drink out of a bottle, after all, it isn't all that natural. Try getting a dish for water instead, it's more work, but unless your hamster learns to drink out of a bottle, it's the only way.

it might be a good idea to give him lots of food that has a high water content; anything you can squeeze juice out of, vegetables, fruit

When an animal changes their normal routine it always signals that something is wrong.

Did you clean the bottle recently and use soap? Is there algae growing anywhere in the bottle? Is she eating and playing okay otherwise?

If she doesn't go near it by tonight, get an eye dropper from the drugstore. Suck a little water up into it and try to get it into her mouth while you hold her.
