my hamster had four babiesand my mom was lookingat one and the momma got the baby and put it in her mouth and slammed it against the walls and the babies are in a seperate cage now
Answers:how long ago
u shouldnt separate them until 3 weeks they need their mon to survive
but if u touch any of then the mom will eat them
I think u should put them in seperate cage until the babies grow up... then u let them live with their momma..but u can let teh meet thier momma under ur protection.... okay..
Id rename the moma hampster, and try not to feed it after midnight
don't touch any more of the babies, she'll kill them all. The babies are too small to be handled with human hands, she'll smell the human scent and turn on her babies, get an eyedropper and feed the one milk, see if she 'll take to any of the other three, if not, you just became the mother of four. I did the same thing with a nest of rabbits when I saw seven, the mother stopped feeding them and all seven of them died, I was traumatized.
Yes, I think it's only right for you to separate the mother & the babies in different cage. The reason why the mother hamster is hurting her babies is because she would rather kill them herself than having someone else hurt them or take them away from her. I think they don't really recognise their own offsprings or have "morals" like us human beings - my friend told me her hamster was chasing after its own grand-daughter to mate with...& sadly, my friend only managed to separate the two after they had mated...
