Pease no mean comments! I just wont to know all the fruits, veggies, nuts, berries, and any other food. Also any unusual treats they can eat! Anything else I need to know please tell me I am going to get two female rats!!

Answers:

fruit: apples, cherries, grapes, banana, strawberries, other berries, melons, plums.

vegetables: broccoli, potatoes, peas, carrot, cooked sweet potato, kale, parsley, bok choy, squash.

cooked liver, other very lean meats (cooked)

whole wheat pasta and bread

cooked beans (including soya)

yogurt (especially with live cultures)

brown rice

unsweetened breakfast cereals

mealworms

small dog biscuits

some leftovers from your meals are okay in moderation, but avoid fatty or sugary scraps and items off the list below.

special treats (given only occasionally): whole nuts in the shell (almonds, brazin nuts, walnuts), sunflower seeds (high in fat), carob chips

DO NOT FEED THEM THE FOLLOWING:

chocolate

raw beans

raw sweet potato

cabbage, brussel sprouts

green potatoes

sweet sugary treats, any other "junk food"

caffeinated beverages

carbonated drinks

look up the dapper rat website they have a list of dangerous foods on there. as for the cage the smallerst that they can be housed in is a twenty gallon aquarium. they need at least two square feet per rat i believe.

maybe you should just go to the PET store and try to find some rat food?? and also, you should buy a medium-large cage or something...i'm not really sure because i have one (i had 2 others but they died) hamster

They mostly eat left over fruits.

I tried a little bit of everything. Rats really love to taste new things so I always tried to provide at least a taste of something new all the time. They loved cheerios.

They usually eat grains, all kinds, I know they love chcolate too,because thats what I used to capture a couple that were in this barn. Of course cheeses, corn all nuts, they have been known to take bites out of people too! No I am thinking of the movie Ben, and the movie Willard, where this guy trained masses of rats, in order to carry out his commands. You will probably love those movies, they are from 70s I believe..
