What do you do when your bunny is dying2007-11-24 22:16:18

I have a baby bunny about eight weeks old. I think that it has been over fed. One of them died, but another one is fighting right now. What should I do?

Answers:

Your vet may or may not be able to help you. You can call and find out but rabbits are very hard to treat and can become ill and die easily at a young age. Call a local vet office and ask what could be done for the bunny of anything at all. He may be sick right now and it's causing his stomach to seem full. I hope your bunny will make it.

Bunnies are cute but also delicate. Keep it warm, they lose body heat easily. You sure about the cause? Sounds a little fishy to me. How about a visit to the vet to find out what is happening? Poison? Taken away from mom too soon? Good luck.

When rabbits are weaned by it's mother they often have a hard time of it. Make sure your rabbit has lots of fresh hay. Rub it's tummy and leave a soda bottle of warm water in it's bed. It may cuttle up to it.

If you got them at a petstore, most bunnies aren't healthy anyway. If you do lose this one, and decide to get another, call a breeder or shelter.

Syringe feed some Pedialyte for hydration and yes, keep the baby warm
