What do you do with a baby bunny(still crawls, not hops) after your dog tried to play with it and it
My dog, Missy, is a Labrador Retriever/ Irish Setter mix. Early this afternoon, she decided to go outside and snoop around. She found a bunny's nest underneath the pool deck inside the ladder we hardly ever use! One bunny tried to escape and it pretty much did, only it crawled for life. We don't know if it's a boy or girl since little Missy enjoys scaring things while trying to play with them. The bunny is still under the pool deck, but isn't giving an effort to move since his small body seems like too much for his little legs(still crawling). We yelled at Missy(no physical activity), though we know it's what her breed does. We would like to help the bunny;get cat's milk and an eyedropper from King Kullen. We can rip up some dead grass, living grass, weeds, and dirt along with some small rocks underneath the dirt. If there are any specialists or vets, please tell us what to do!
Answers:You need to gently pick up that rabbit and take it to the vet. Rabbits are very fragile and most likely you dog has done damage. He/She will just die if you leave it under the pool deck. Put the rabbit in a small box where it can not move around a lot with a clean wash cloth. Hopefully you can save this bunny. They are wonderful animals.
Did the dog get to touch it?Did he scratch it or nip at it?If so you should grab the bunny (carefully) and find a small box.Put some grass or weeds, whatever works, and make him a comfortable as possible. Then call a vet and make an appointment.
If the dog wasn't able to touch it then it is probably in shock.Leave it there for a little while more and see what happens. The mother will not want it if you touch it.
most walmarts carry baby animal bottle, you can try nursing with whole milk, or put it back in nest for momma to take care of and keep doggy away,
the baby is probably scared you should try to get him/her to the vet hope the rabbit feels better
You could call a vet and ask for advice. Twice when i called the vet i got great advice from the nurse there. It is worth a try!
