long or short hair? male or female?

They are soooooooo cute. I have a teddy bear hamster. He has long hair. He is very gentle. If you want to get one pick one that is quite, he'll live longer and be easier to handle.

i have had 1 of each and they were both really sweet but the short hair seemed to be playful when i wanted it to be and all snuglly when i wanted it to be but i like the long hair cuz they are always nice but it really depeneds on the one YOU get hope this helped

i like fuzzy things so i would get long hair and also, i have better boy names than girl name so i think like a fuzzy one named Spike cuz he's a teddy bear hamster would be just too cute

Male and female don't really make a difference since Syrians must live solitary anyways. Both can get territorial and nip but usually, they're at least easier to tame than other hammies.

Long haired syrians are more popular since they look more fuzzy and soft (and plump) and short haired look a bit more like a rodent (mouse etc.) so I'd vote for long-haired :)
