sound definitley and then probably smell if u watch them they are very attentive when it comes to noises. like when they hear things they will bob their heads up. I also think they use smell a lot as well.

ferrets have very sensitive ears, which is why you are not supposed to give them "squeaky" toys. but they can have "rattling" toys
