What is an aquarium cage for a hamster I have never heard of them before

You buy a glass aquarium (like one used for a fishtank). You get a wire lid with cage clips, so he can't chew thru it. They are very easy to clean. They are not as colorful as those plasic ones, but you can add hidey homes, wheels, larger water bottles, and other accesories. It gives the hamster more room to run around, plus the hamster cannot chew thru and destroy the glass and metal wire lid.

sidenote: Other people have suggested not buying this type of cage because of venthilation problems. There should be no problem because the top is open, only covered by wire mesh. It was also suggested that those cages do not let the fumes from cedar chips out... You should NOT be using cedar or pine chips for hamsters, whether you have a glass aquarium or a wire cage. They do emit harmful fumes and can make a hamster very sick... There are plenty of other bedding alternatives that can be used, including, aspen shavings, recycled newspaper pellets (like the product Yesterday's News), and there are many other beddings specially labeled for use with small animals that you can find in your local pet store. If you find yourself in need of bedding without being able to get to the store, you can always find a newspaper (only use the regular mostly black and white pages, not the colorful, glued, or stapled coupons and advertisement sections), tear it up into smaller strips, and use that as bedding too.
