What is better about hairless over hairy rats, or vice versa
I myslef prefer the furry rats, but what are your views hairless rat owners?
And, furry rat owners, why do you prefer furry friends?
Tell me what you think!
Answers:I have both hairless and furred rats. They both have their uniquenesses. I love them both and I couldn't choose which of the two are my favorite. Unfortunately my Hairless rats were pet store rats and they did have issues with their health.
To some rat-lovers hairless rats are "so ugly, they're cute". When I picked out Eve at the pet store she looked like a cross between a human child and wrinkled alien. I immediately fell in love with her.
The biggest problem with hairless rats is how damaged their skin can get from their own claws and the claws of of their cage mates. When they get a tumor, or a infected subasceous cyst, like all rats do, it looks uglier on a hairless.

"my life has gone to the rats"
i think hairless rats are an abomination personally, stick to our fine furry friends and don't support that aspect of the trade. Stem cell research is bad, but genetically engineering through exploitation of birth defects is considered "cute" well then i want a 4 assed monkey (southpark fan here) i'd also like to genetically engineer your thumb to your opinion and fertilize my garden with both...
although i only have furry ones i like both. hairless are harder to come by and look after though.
Hairless rats are adorable, and created equel to furry ratties. There is no difference, except hairlesses sometimes need lotion rubbed in to their sensitive skin, and they need a furry rat frend to keep them warm at night as they can get cilled easily. I have personally never kept a hairless myself but have met many owners and they love their hairless rats.
Ive just got 2 hairless rats, not as cute as hairy ones I guess ... but each to there own, I think mine are gorgeous, (They have a thin layer of hair just now, but that will soon fall out- there only 5-6 weeks old)
