What is the best cage for two mice2007-11-24 22:17:02

I'm getting two mice, and I can't decide on a cage to get. So many of them! Anyone have any recommendations?

Be very carefull as micde can escape very easily.A plastic cage with the wires at the top will be the best as they can gt air inside but cant escape...

Don't get the cages with all the colorful toys and all the tubes for like, $24-$40. They're all plastic and hard to clean. The also don't have a very good ventilation, so amonia[awful smells from their poop and urine] might build up and it could poison them- and you. You'd also have a hard time trying to catch them when you want to play with them and hard to watch them play. Get one of those plastic cages that are clear to see through. It has a removable top that comes in many different colors and it has a door at the top big enough for you to reach in. It would be best to get big cage that can hold a water bottle/bowl, food bowl, wheel (trust me, they'll) love you for it), and a space for them to play and groom eachother at. Get a cage that will be tall enough so that they can't bust the top open (trust me, they will) but light enough for you to carry. If you want, you could get an aquarium kind of cage. A 5 gallon tank would work, they're about $13. If you get a wire cage, be sure the wires are close together. if your pinky can get through, it's too big. The problem with the wire cage is that the bedding could fall out of the wires. Also, would you like seeing your mice throught bars? I know i wouldn't. You need to put at least 2-3 inches of bedding for your mice. Put 4 if you want them to be warm and burrow under the bedding. You'd need a bowl for food, because believe it or not, it will spoil. It'd be best to buy a water bottle because the bowl would have their droppings, urine and bedding in it within 15 minutes of putting it in. With the bottle, it'll be fresh for a while. Hope your mice will have a nice home!! Remember, you'd like something nice and conveniant to live in. So would your mice. =]
