I'd say a guinea pig or rabbit because they are bigger and easier to handle! Even though they are not on your choice list!

guniapig they are very gentle but rember u may have to take over the feeding

gerbils don't need cleaning out much and they are more active during the day than most of the others. i think the main consideration though is get something that isn't too small. bigger animals are harder to break. have you considered a guinea pig, chinchilla or rabbit?

Teddybear hamster.

Dwarf hamsters are a little different, smaller, and super fast. Same thing with mice. Rats tend to be smelly. Gerbils bite and draw blood (I saw that happen to a child who was screaming and the gerbil had his jaws locked... it was horror.)

hmmm i really like hamsters but rats are sooo inteligent do some research on all of them and see which one u like best! Or you can go to the petstore and see if u can hold each of them!! And see which one u like best!!!

for a rat you have to play with it everyday and you cant pull its tail wich kids may do. if its a really little child then i say no. but depending on maturity yes, just learn up on them and teach him the ways of the rat padawon.

A rat would be the best choice in my opinion, they are the sweetest and most intellegent of the options you have. Gerbils are also good, but they are faster and a little harder to handle.
